***********

Our first ever gathering of nerds is on Wednesday, 22 September, 6:30 pm onwards at Messrs Maguire, Burgh Quay, Dublin 2.

Wear your nerd glasses and nerdy cardigans, and bring your nerdy-selves at 6:30 pm.

We’ve got two nerds willing to talk to us about:

Hackers in movies Damian Gordon, Lecturer at DIT, and a star nerd, will look at the portrayal of computer hackers in the movies, how they are represented in terms of the age, gender, profession, etc. and how this portrayal has evolved over the decades, and it will also will look at the depiction of the types of things hackers can do in the movies as
opposed to real life.

Password Insecurity

We all use passwords to authenticate ourselves in everyday life: from our email, our social networds and banks. Do we choose good passwords? How could we get hacked? And what can we do to make a great personal password policy? For answers to these questions, come listen to Danny Lynch, Ph.d fellow at UCD and a baby nerd. Come, join the nerd march!

The event’s free and we invite you to bring your friends, foes, pets and favourite nerds. Come, drink with us!

Have questions? Write to us at dub...@nerdnite.com or ashw...@nerdnite.com, or follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn. If you wish to be one of the presenters, write to us at the above email address and one of our nerd soldiers will get in touch with you before the beginning of the nerd-era.
